Barilla can't avoid a class-action lawsuit over allegedly deceptive advertising about the pasta's origins, a federal judge ruled this week.

Barilla can’t avoid a class-action lawsuit over allegedly deceptive advertising about the pasta’s origins, a federal judge ruled this week. At issue is the brand’s slogan “Italy’s No. 1 brand of pasta,” which the lawsuit says can lead customers to believe it’s actually made in Italy. The customers that filed the lawsuit last year, Matthew Sinatro and Jessica Prost, said they bought multiple boxes of Barilla pasta thinking they were made in Italy.

” They also say that with Barilla’s ad campaign because it positions it “as authentic, genuine Italian pastas—made from ingredients sources in Italy , and manufactured in Italy,” when it’s not. However, as stated on Barilla’s website, it’s not. The pasta is made in Iowa and New York, using the same machines used its plant in Parma, Italy. Barilla was founded in 1877 in the small Italian town and has grown as an “international group present in more than 100 countries.

Idc where it’s made. It’s the best to me. The only kind we use.

It tastes like the box it comes in.

San Marzano tomatoes in the US aren’t grown in Italy, Florida Oranges are grown in Brasil, and a LOT of “organic” products aren’t as organic as they claim. It’s time for truth in advertising.

They should have made a class action against those who call 'parmesan' that shitty cheese from midwest and all the disgusting 'italian-sound-like' cheap imitation of our food.

You know you have it good, when you’re in litigation with a noodle company cause you spent an extra 50c on their noodles

I've heard it's always al dente

What kind of judge would approve this case? It's so petty. People suck

In this house we only eat Barilla

Off subject. I have some ideas for u to rename Jake Tapper's new show. 1. Fox News on CNN 2. The GOP hour He only likes to interview republicans. And he speaks to them almost salivating. Ban CNN.

Wasn't the origin written on the box?

The only false advertising is that a box feeds 8 people.

Wait who gets the money? I've bought these numerous times.

Only in the US such an abominal lawsuit can be accepted.

It’s a crock. It says right on the box which plants the pasta was produced and packaged in. Either Ames, IA (plant has been here in Ames 22yrs), Avon, NY or in Italy. Bogus lawsuits.

New Jersey is the Italy of America. So that should qualify.

I really love it❤️

De Cecco is a famous brand in Italy. In Italy most people make their own pasta from generation to generation. Mangia Salvatore, buon appetito! 🍝

They simply forgot to include “Little” before Italy.

Nope! Not as tasty as before! 👎🏻
