Andrew Vasiliev operates two internet\u002Dbased businesses that employ more than 50 people in his besieged homeland from an Ottawa\u002Darea office.

The program offers Ukrainians extended temporary status in Canada and allows them to work, study and stay in this country until it’s safe to return home.

“It is significantly more expensive, but I like it here,” said Vasiliev. “As of now, our plan is to stay. I think my daughter would have a better future here.” Vasiliev switched to sales and began by selling business software for a firm called Cience, then moved to another software firm, Nectar Desk, as director of sales.
