One of retiree Elizabeth Rhodes biggest sellers is a microwave bowl koozie. The item envelopes the bowl during the cooking and makes it easy to remove without getting burned. The Conroe resident has been a vendor at the Humble Christmas Market since 2008.Elizabeth Rhodes was up at 5 a.m. on Thursday cranking out merchandise in her craft room. The sewing machine was humming off and on as she continued to create more wreaths and aprons for her upcoming gigs.
The market is held on the second Saturday of November every year and that falls on the 12th this year.“This year, we know the economy is tough and people are struggling,” said Claudia Lamascus who organizes the yuletide market each year. Rhodes said she will have two booths again this year because the price allows her to make her money back and much more. One will be devoted to Scentsy products, the other filled with wreaths, aprons, and microwave bowl koozies.She retired in 2015 and hitting the markets and selling her wares has been a regular affair for her.This Saturday, she will be at West Conroe Baptist Church for the fourth time, and then the following weekend at Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Humble on Nov. 12.
