The former Macquarie Bank boss is ‘delighted’ with his new role as special envoy to South-East Asia.

| Former Macquarie boss Nicholas Moore’s success in banking will resonate in fast-growing South-East Asia, according to businesses keen for more heft behind Australia’s push into the region.

South-East Asia’s largest economy, Indonesia, clocked a 63.3 per cent year-on-year increase in foreign direct investment in the third quarter. Australia is 10th on the list led by Singapore, China, Japan, Hong Kong and Malaysia. “The one-way conversation we have had about what we can do in these markets is now evolving to what we can do for them – it’s a two-way street,” Mr Irving said.
