The Business Journals caught up with Peter Van Emburgh, who oversees about 7 million square feet of office space across 600 locations globally for CBRE.

CBRE Group Inc.'s Workplace360 initiative is hardly new, but it's gotten a new look in the wake of space and workplace changes stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic., senior vice president and global head of real estate at CBRE, last month in the company's Atlanta office. Van Emburgh oversees about 7 million square feet of office space across 600 locations globally for CBRE.

Starting last year, when vaccines started to roll out and we got past the initial phase of the pandemic, what were some of the biggest changes CBRE was doing internally for its offices from what you had been doing pre-Covid? It was really, really successful in a lot of ways, and made people productive. But for those who are more sensitive or neurodivergent, it's awful because they're like,"I just need some area to focus." And so we introduced other space types that allow for increased productivity. One example would be a furniture solution ... a focus pod. And it's really just another individual workstation, but it's got acoustical privacy.

When you think about CBRE's offices across the country, and updating them to reflect some of these new priorities, are you doing it all at once? Are you doing it as leases come up? What's the strategy for deploying this post-pandemic strategy? Are you comfortable with the number of locations you have? Do you see potential for new markets or additional locations within specific markets, or do you feel like CBRE has the right number?

Why Planet Fitness hasn't raised its $10 monthly gym price in 30 years | CNN BusinessPlanet Fitness' almost sacrosanct $10 membership plan has become a key part of the company's brand positioning. I go to PF just to use the machines which i don’t have at home. I have a weights (bench, plates and dumbbells) but no machines. PF needs to step it up in equipment. A packed gym with not enough equipment is ridiculous at times and the staff is annoying. Because it really is $180 up front because it is an 18 month commitment. Everyday fitness need not be overpriced that's why PlanetFitness is unparalleled.
