The strike, which affects all 10 University of California campuses, comes after negotiators failed to reach agreements over pay and benefits.

The strike affected all of the UC system's 10 campuses, including those in Berkeley, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Davis and Los Angeles. Strikers and students manned the picket lines at numerous locations.

"UC continues to negotiate with the union and is committed to working collaboratively with the UAW to find solutions to outstanding issues," the UC Berkeley administrators said. The labor action led to the cancellation of numerous classes throughout the system. Striking workers set up picket lines at multiple campuses.
