The Pokémon Company slashes the number of TCG cards in online packs, claims it's 'optimal' for players.

However, there’s an economic reason for the decision that has no benefit to players whatsoever. Becausehas drowned itself in so many overlapping and confusing in-game currencies, it has become a difficult balancing act for TPC to manage. One of these currencies is Credits, and these can be spent to buycard from any collection a player desires.

During game development, we found that 10-card booster packs in Pokémon TCG Live often resulted in more duplicates of non-foil common and uncommon cards. Once the maximum number of copies has been reached for a card type, duplicates will get converted into Credits that can be exchanged for any card that a player does not already have in their collection .

I'm not a fan of the new Live client, but you should be honest in your criticism. The 10 card packs have exactly one rare card. The 5 pack system in Live can have multiple rare cards. In theory it represents similar value because you can craft. Of course, it is a dice roll.

They just stopped me from wanting to get back into the tcg, good job Pokémon Company

I have so many card codes to redeem before switching. 😬😬😬
