With the City Council's blessing, the area around San Jose's City Hall could soon be revamped.

Some older parts of Downtown San Jose — particularly the area near City Hall — could soon be getting a makeover.

On unanimous votes Tuesday night, the City Council approved three different building projects that together would bring 955 residences and nearly 600,000 square feet of office space to San Jose's core.409 and 425 S. 2nd St. at the corner of East San Salvador Street in the city's SoFA district.
