“It’s probably the first season I’m really scared. I put my prices up, but I don’t know if I went up enough because of the price of diesel,” said Gary Nicholson of Dickieson’s Snow Removal in Charlottetown.

Gary Nicholson of Dickieson's Snow Removal says he has downsized his company's area of operation in an effort to keep things efficient. He says this season, he has pulled out of Cornwall and Meadowbank and is focusing mostly on the Brighton area of Charlottetown. - Drew Bloksberg/SaltWire NetworkCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — As P.E.I. continues to see record-high inflation, those looking to have their driveway plowed out when the snow falls might be paying a bit more than years before.

“It's hard to go back to the people and get any more money,” he said. “If you’ve got a thousand driveways, that’s a lot of work going back and getting it, so you might just have to bite the bullet and put up next year.” “I had a tractor out there, but I basically sold that area to another guy who is out there,” he said.

Gary Nicholson said his company runs a fleet of 20 tractors each year and estimates it will cost between $400-500 to fill each one with diesel. - Cody McEachern Biggar, who owns and operates the business with his two brothers, said he lucks out a little in relation to costs compared to other larger companies, as he doesn’t have any employees outside of him and his brothers.
