The Greens will have the balance of power in the Senate as parliament is recalled to pass the federal government's energy relief plan, but they'll seek to vote it down.

The Greens will seek to vote down federal government plans to compensate coal companies subjected to price caps.He added the "temporary" nature of the government's measures were a concern.

The plan will see gas temporarily capped at $12 a gigajoule and coal at $125 a tonne in order to lessen the impact of rising energy costs. "The government's measures look to be temporary, but the rise in gas prices is going to be permanent." "For anyone to argue that they need to make more than $12 a gigajoule is just ridiculous, and I don't think that argument is going to hold any water," Mr Bowen told Sky News on Sunday.

"There were businesses and industries saying to us very clearly that they would have a lot of difficulty surviving next year in the face of gas prices and electricity prices being what they were," he said.

The Greens, objective to people having a clue.

Good why should Australians subsidise their own resources to companies who are mostly foreign tax evaders. Give it a break,Australians need protection from SarsCov2 where are the millions for that?

The Greens should try and get the government to bring in a windfall profits tax.

The Greens once again wanting the gold plated solution that doesn’t exist. Repeating history again.

Coal and gas are shouldn't be subjective to price capped as they are based on global price.. if the price increase that's profit for coal mine and royalties for government..

FACTS:- A) Last Fed election Labor got LESS primary vote than the previous (Bill Shorten's) Fed election B) Labor got into Fed government on Greens preferences. C) Greens have voters mandate to reject all subsidies to fosil fuel shit. This is what they have aways stood for...

LyndaFrench19 1. Your article doesn't say how coal & gas will be compensated (the premise for Greens objections). 2. Greens oppose something they haven't read. How very Green.

GreensFail

The greens are getting a bit of a record for really poor voting decisions. A decade without a carbon tax went down quite poorly with people who would normally have voted for them. Stopping capping coal and gas prices may not be quite as popular as they think.

LABOR + GREENS = FAIL

Does anyone with a (thinking) brain listen to anything from any msm?

It's a stunt.
