Exclusive: Bari Weiss reveals business plan for buzzy new media startup

The New York Times as an op-ed columnist in July 2020, arguing she had become a victim of "a 'new McCarthyism' that has taken root at the paper of record." Bowles left The Times shortly after in 2021.In January of 2021, Weiss launched Common Sense, a newsletter on Substack that's since amassed over 283,000 free and paid subscribers.

Prior to that, the duo relied on subscription revenue from Weiss' newsletter, which costs $5 monthly. that Weiss made over $800,000 from her newsletter alone, which at the time had 14,000 paid subscribers. The newsletter has more than double that number of paid subscribers today.Weiss' newsletter and other Free Press email newsletters will continue to be sent using Substack, which also provided technical support for The Free Press website.

Those writers will join The Free Press' existing slate of journalists, which includes Bowles, as well as Peter Savodnik, Emily Yoffe and Suzy Weiss of The New York Post.

I will gladly pay a monthly subscription for this. bariweiss gives me faith in humanity. Level headed, moderate, and understands the nuance of situations. opposedivision

Just wish she would've used a different name. Sounds ripped off from Citizen's Free Press.

I hope it is a media empire that has diverse views, unlike cnn, and all the big news! Fox is alright the rest are bias

Wow they exclusively let you publish a press release. How did you ever get your hands on this exclusive access?

Awesome

Everytime she trends Kate McKinnon probably cringes.

Empire? She doesn’t even have a million followers on Twitter. In 25 BC the Roman EMPIRE had a population of more than 50 million. Which raises the question, why is Axios boosting Bari Weiss in such an absurd manner? I can speculate where some of her funds come from…

Imagine paying someone to validate your opinions.

Hard pass

Be annoying AF, rinse and repeat.

The Republican Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda?

Another Attention seeker seeking more attention.

Onlyfans or gtfo

She wasn’t that great at the times but good luck.

So it’s neither “free” nor “press.” It’s the same grift of half-truths and lies dressed up to “resemble honest reporting.”

1:simp for the richest man on earth in culture war BS 2: profit

judging by her lil Twitter files “journalism” i’ll give it a miss thank u
