, the U.S. Postal Service, UPS, FedEx and Amazon all say they're closely watching the forecast for any potential delays ahead of Christmas Eve.When to ship packages in time for Christmas during the busiest shipping weeks of the year
Amazon is factoring in the winter weather in its delivery estimates, according to spokesperson Sam Stephenson. Gifts that are expected to make their final destination by Christmas Eve are marked with a"arrive by Christmas" message, and shoppers should pay attention to estimated shipping dates to make sure any last minute presents they order will make it on time, Stephenson said.
Learning from past freezes, FedEx said in a statement it has contingency plans in place to limit delays in case of winter storms and will make deliveries as long as it's safe to do so. USPS and UPS also said in statements they would only interrupt delivery service if conditions made it unsafe for drivers or if it is necessary to comply with local regulations.
