Rishi Sunak has been filmed asking a homeless man if he works in business in an 'excruciating' exchange, as critics branded him 'out of touch'

Dean replied that he was interested in finance, and the PM said: "I used to work in finance, actually."Dean said: "Yeah I wouldn't mind. But, I don't know, I'd like to get through Christmas first".Picture: Rishi Sunak

Dean said that he was hoping St Mungo's, the homeless charity, could help him get into temporary accommodation so he would not be on the street for Chrismas.Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner called it "excruciating", while her fellow Labour MP Bill Esterson claimed the clip showed Mr Sunak was "out of touch".

Better to ask him if the bins smell and what type of rat he prefers to sleep next to...

Outrageous! It looked like a sketch out of Viz!

Out in public? Must be an election coming up!

Bloody press again on a witch hunt. Seems a positively normal question . People do work there and the guy did say he was interested in business . Why is LBC News trying to put a different didnt on this story . Give it a rest !!!

Not a big fan of him, but is it illegal for homeless people to work? Some homeless people have small jobs, but still can't pay for housing.

Perhaps the chap looked immoral or shifty so RishiSunak thought he was a banker

There is a moral point here. Always know your subject before you take part in anything you do. Being made to look foolish by his advisors is even more insulting. Just sums up every single MP'S on how out of touch they are with reality.

The exchange was excruciating and showed he hasn't a clue about deprivation in his country. However what was insulting to all those poor homeless people was he believed it okay to make a photoshoot of their suffering to promote himself. There isn't a caring bone in his body 🤬

He's not a leader, he's just a middle manager promoted waaaaaaay above his capabilities.

I am not defending anyone but is no one allowed a slip of the tongue anymore? I see so many people saying the wrong thing accidently so do I parade such people in public and ensure they are denigrated sufficiently?

Sums them up..

Amazed he didn’t offer him a PPE contract.

Sunak who thought BREXIT was a good idea. What a pranny

They have no idea how the rest of us live. GeneralElectionN0W

Parody_PM Oh, my friend! I think you’ve been out-parodied. How can you top this?

Should have told him 'Yes, I'm in the business of trying to survive'

Not a clue, not a clue, not a clue, not a clue. How many times - not a bloody clue!!!!!

Out of touch you say, who’d have thought it.

What do we expect from a man who struggles with contactless payments and putting petrol in a small family car. Next he’ll be telling us to eat cake.

Good job the homeless guy didn't ask for a doughnut. RishiSunak would have had to serve himself up.

Is this out of touch? Or plain stupid? He’s helping in a soup kitchen for the needy and asking a fella if he works in finance.

Can't pay for fuel for a car he had to borrow. Doesn't understand a man in a homeless food kitchen is not in business. Statue for the garden £*******, out of touch 😂😂😂

Proving once and for all that the Tories exist solely to look down on and take the piss out of the less fortunate. They don't need voted out of government so much as voted out of existence. 😡

Critics did not see the full 90 minutes he was there, who he spoke to and what was said Critics take one suitable for their purpose soundbite to promote their own cause

George Parker said the UK proves that high taxes have not delivered strong public services. But taxes for the wealthy remain low,, compared with similar nations. And Scandinavians pay far more in tax for excellent public services. Our privatised ones run for profit, not people.

No party has done anywhere near enough on homelessness and good housing. Sunak appears gauche in ordinary places. At least he pledged billions to help. Starmer's rightist lurch has made the party's socialists homeless. The next election may punish his failure to back strikers.

Show the whole transcript.

The man who just called about his 6 bedroom house and about a nurse who had called in earlier was WRONG. She took home £2k a month and her rent is £1500

He really is epitome of toff. Everytime he engages with normal people it's like he's never met one. Even activities like fuelling a car he seems to struggle. No wonder normal people are struggling when the guy in charge has no relation to them. Very dangerous him being pm

It certainly beats Ed Milibands awkward bacon sandwich moment by a country mile.

Sunak & the rest of the Government are just so out of touch. We all pay our taxes to provide a safety net. Unfortunately Sunak seems to divi it up between friends

A true man of the people 🤔
