Southwest Airlines Co. posted just three flight cancellations at Mineta San Jose International Airport on Friday morning.

Nationwide on Friday, Southwest canceled 41 flights, much less than the 2,300 cancellations posted on Thursday.a news release

."We appreciate the dedicated work of the Southwest Team to restore our schedule, and we anticipate minimal disruptions for the weekend." The company has been scrambling to recover its operations since the weekend, when severe winter storms affecting much of the country forced Southwest to cancel and delay thousands of flights daily, according to the airline. Since Dec. 22, Southwest has canceled a total of more than 15,700 flights,In addition to steep criticism from jilted airplane passengers, Southwest faced governmental scrutiny from the U.S.

On Thursday, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg called Southwest's performance"unacceptable" when compared to the 3% of cancellations seen by other major airlines following the weekend winter storm. In comparison Southwest canceled 59% of its flights Thursday. U.S. DOT officials announced Monday that they would be investigating the airline after the operational meltdown.
