An Oklahoma firm is under contract for 'the balance' of 15 parcels in Berkeley eyed for a massive life sciences project.

The project, dubbed Gilman Gateway, would span the equivalent of roughly four city blocks and encompass the following parcels:1310 Third St.

The project is the latest life science development pitched for West Berkeley, which was historically home to heavy industrial uses and served as a manufacturing and jobs hub for the city. Pacific Steel, which declared bankruptcy in 2014 , and Berkeley Forge and Tool were among last remaining traditional heavy manufacturers in the area.
