A bill that would ban smoking in Atlantic City’s casinos is still being held up by our top legislative leaders, because they have been convinced by the gambling industry that it would be a wallop to its wallet.
They cling to a misconception that no-smoking casinos can’t remain competitive, despite evidence to the contrary during the pandemic, when smoking was suspended.on ending indoor smoking: “At the end of the day, we will still get good business. Atlantic City is an American gem. We’ve got the ocean and the other competitors don’t. And this is the right thing for our respective health.”
This from the guys who still publish an occasional report from Christine Todd Whitman, she of 'The air is safe at Ground Zero' infamy.
And hearts and a bunch of other organs too.
