One California market was an especially popular destination for those making moves in 2022 with uhaul

California was the biggest loser in 2022, according to the U-Haul Growth Index, which is based on the demand for one-way U-Haul truck rentals.

California ranked in 50th place in U-Haul’s index, which includes Washington, D.C. but excludes Hawaii, which doesn’t have people leaving or arriving via U-Haul trucks.to other states in the year ended June 30, 2022, according to the latest Census Bureau data. Some of the population loss was offset by international migration into California and natural population growth from births in the state outnumbering deaths last year.
