One of the most important technologies to address climate change got a boost Thursday when a startup said it pulled carbon dioxide from the open air and stored it underground.
The company has cashed in on the effort, potentially creating a viable business model that could kick-start a new industry.from the atmosphere, using a process known as direct-air capture. Customers, including Microsoft Corp. , paid a significant premium to buy carbon credits generated by Climeworks, allowing them to effectively offset their own emissions.
Don’t trees do that?
Phylum Change: We are already killing birds and sea life maybe removing CO2 is just the thing for reducing plant life. Just exactly what is going to be left over in this Utopia? tt:DanHenninger SaraCarterDC
Anyone with half a brain has known this technology is coming down the line. Why are we still tryna ban gas stoves?
The climate change industry started decades ago. It is based on creating a false hysteria to convince governments to fund the industry to “fix” a problem that doesn’t exist. Immoral but profitable.
How about, instead of contorting ourselves into these things, we reduce our use of fossil fuels and put some serious resources into efficiency?
Looking at the picture I'm sure pollutes and some other way 🤔
That should help the trees.
What a waste of time and energy resources!!
Death of us all.
Trees?
やっと動いたね
Using electricity from coal fired power stations?
Wasn't, isn't, planting trees and reviving nature a more 'natural' solution? Oh, my bad, this cannot be monetized nor industrialized, how silly of me.
I have developed a much more efficient and effective machine and the profit margins projections are excellent. It is final development stage right now. It will be released onto market this spring Investors welcome
lol...waiting for the unintended consequences.
Wonder what will happen to the ecosystem without the CO2 in the area? Plants need it grow, animals need plants...sounds kind of stifling.
April 2022
How much energy it needs? What is the source of this energy ? How much drinkable water it consumes ? For me trees are still far better to store co2.
$CEI CEI
For only million$ of dollars, they can almost remove as much as a tree!
They are missing the point by trying to SOLVE the supposed problem. 😉
wham scam thank you m'am
Found another.
Just don‘t plant a garden next to one of these environment-killing machines.
NYCMayor this for all those empty skyscrapers + vertical farms
Looks like a spy series
davidfrum Fission, carbon capture.... Hurry up! 😬 it's 50 degrees in Jan
davidfrum This 'News Exclusive' was all over Europe a year ago when they did their next financing round. (They're a unicorn now.) And have you done the numbers? To suck up half of the world's CO2-emissions you would need 7'000'000 of these things.
davidfrum 👇👇How can claim it an “exclusive”?
Bs
This is clearly a useless make work program used to scam taxpayers and line the pockets of agreeable politicians who sign on to it.
Plant food thievery…
Maybe they’ll remove all C02 from the atmosphere. Have you ever once wondered … a poison so bad that it will cause climate change.. and yet if you remove it every single living thing dies. And there’s only a trace of it in the atmosphere… 450 parts per billion …. Think people
30年なんて言ってられない状況を痛感するはず🥴😂
Clown World shit. These machines do the same as a forest.
It's a please the silly activist.
Climatehoax
Apparently some investors still don’t know anything about photosynthesis. Cuz we already lots of stuff that does this, and it been around for 100s of millions of years.
Put Co2 scrubbers in front grill of all vehicles. As the travel through air the clean it. Plant bio engineered super Co2 absorbing trees. Co2 is air for plants.
this start up sucks
They can make diamonds and get rich.
AKA...trees.
“Climeworks declined to say how much carbon it removed.” …why?
Ice9 type technology right there
What a waste of money.
What about this group who take reducing carbon from the air a step further by creating a cycle of useable by-products not just burying it! Ask thehatchery Yao Huang knows, go WonderWomen GreenEnergy InnovationInMotion
Less co2=less trees and plants. Great for the earth!
Stop the Lies WSJ
Pretty stupid thing to do, considering the fact that carbon isn't a pollutant.
What about plants? Starve plants to save the planet.
What climate change?
Now this is funny. Let’s follow this company over the next couple years. They will probably get millions of taxpayer money before disappearing.
And where does the carbon go?
Hideous contraption
