Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has reportedly told staff the onus is on them to reverse the company’s fortunes after it provided a dire financial update on Wednesday.

Commenting on Ubisoft’s financial update on Wednesday, ReedPop’s head of games B2Bclaimed Ubisoft was suffering compared to other big publishers because of its lack of a significant live service game to fill release gaps.

“The big issue for Ubisoft isn’t its structure, not really. It’s the fact it doesn’t have a live service game of any significance,” he wrote. “Look at the publishers worth billions… it’s all about that one title that prints money continuously. GTA Online, FIFA, CoD,“It means that Ubisoft is so reliant on having a good release schedule to drive performance. I think what it’s trying to do with

Hei did u have a version hd from that photo on your tweet?

CEOs take responsability for their incompetence challenge: Impossible.

Question what’s a onus? And Is Ubisoft so broke they can’t afford a B?

Classic boomer mentality

OR use the amazing IP you have and let your devs create games with it instead of forcing them all to pump out generic, over bloated RPGs in franchises that shouldn’t be RPG’s (AC Valhalla, Ghost recon Breakpoint, FarCry 6 all sucked due to bloated RPG mechanics)

Wow what a great boss. 🙄

Sony c‘mon ☺️

What a cnt.

at this point i'm surprised that employees didn't decide to do a mass protest

Well if they didn't destroy the games they make they wouldn't be in a financial trouble like watch Dogs 1 watch Dogs 2 were fantastic then Legion came out and ruined the series even Assassin's Creed with its new boring stories tied to rpg mechanics which no one asked for btw

Can’t wait for Far Cry 7 tbh. Not even kidding. I want a western Far Cry

'Leader of company states that it's the job of the people below him to lead the company.'

Management: *fucks up* Management: 'What are you pathetic little workers going to do to fix this?!'

Imagine Sony would come in and scoop them up 🤣

You know that saying, 'The Buck Stops Here'. Any CEO has to look at their actions to determine the best course for the company. Just blaming the staff is not a way to build a team.

Ubisoft UbisoftSupport wouldn’t it make sense to give the gamers what they want instead of trying to force feed skull and bones? HINT: Division 3 / Splinter Cell / Ghost Recon…

Hopefully Rayman ends up in good hands eventually 🙏

Yves Guillemot is sinking Ubisoft since Assassin’s Creed Revelations, with those yearly releases and after 2013, forgetting about both Prince Of Persia and Splinter Cell, then transforming every franchise into an open world RPG, including Far Cry! He being out is long overdue.

Another target for Microsoft

Yeah it's not like we've been asking for a new Splinter Cell for year's now 🙄 how about giving customers what they want 🤔

Lol Ubisoft

joshscorcher And since they all persist. You've got them on the list.

Tencent or Sony, embracer buy them Microsoft shouldn't get no more publishers after buying Activision manage the studios they have

The Division 2 could've been a serious cash cow, but they took their seasonal approach from The Crew 2 and tried to force it on TD2. Gaming doesn't work like that. Not every game can thrive off the same business model.

You know, most people's ego would get in the way of admitting they are useless, but not Yves. Such humility. 😂

Lol

Who is the one who set the business strategy of turning their core IPs into overly formulaic 'Ubisoft Originals,' has an unwieldy amount of support studios, and went all in on NFTs?

The CEO must go imo

At this rate, Ubisoft will be the next company to get bought out 🙄😂

Take advices from FROMSOFTWARE. They will tell you how the reward in the gaming works, but me as a player I can tell Ubisoft first thing first, no micro transaction. Is different a free to play from the full price game.

Every Ubisoft game feels the same. Years and years of the same recycled trash... how are you not to blame for this as well

Man I love their games and I've been shoveling them money. I hope they don't go belly up.

Make decent games and the money will come rolling in, on top of that, pay your employees well for the work they put in. Ubisoft has some wonderful people from artists to community leads, they deserve more.

If by some miracle they have a good year, he's going to suck up all the credit for himself. Can't trust slime like him.

Hey Yves. Start letting your staff innovate and create new experiences. As opposed to copy paste microtransaction ridden garbage Your response is treating your employees like garbage? then screw you. I won't admonish fans of enjoying the games. But I'll buy when you're replaced

JLA_15 Screw Yves Guillemot. Should've been fired since the accusations.

Translation: prepare to be overworked for the same amount of money.

Cool, so if this is all the employees' responsibility, then if the company starts making profit again you'll reward them and give them big pay bumps and not just increase your OWN pay right? RIGHT!?

This is gonna be a hot topic! Can’t wait to hear about it on RDX Dealer_Gaming XNC Colteastwood Xboxfactor MrboomstickXL Goodmorningxbox NewfNukem

'I think we should add more towers and collectibles to our games!'

Ubisoft and square enix couldn't even make it 2 weeks into 2023 without pissing everyone off

Big suprise, toxic gamedev industry is led by toxic 'leaders' sigh - they'll learn someday

Yves Guillemot is a joke of a man and a terrible leader Ubisoft

Funniest thing we get to hear so many ubisoft games were cancelled that even Netflix is envy about it. Not to mention the “AAAA” games like Skull and Bones that nobody cares about and they still just throw money in it.

Stop putting microtransactions in everything and making every title open world and offer some verity then mf 🤦‍♂️ wow! Took me like 5 minutes too turn the company's fortune's around 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

If the onus is on the workers then so should the profits

of course, what's easier for him?

CEO: “it’s on you” Staff: “So we can do whatever it takes for Ubisoft to thrive?” CEO: “Yes” Staff: “You’re fired” CEO:

Ditch the wokeism and you might turn it around.

This is the same man who fought off a buyout from Viacom and now he has ran the company into the ground with his copy and paste bs games to make money to keep the buyout from happening, now he wants a buyout?

Xbox just buy them at this point.

The CEO that was either complicit or complaicent in the sexual harassment running rampant in his company? That Yves?

Then why does he get paid at the highest level?

'I've greatly fucked this company. Now, it is your job to un-fuck it. I hope you will do the right thing and do your jobs'

I knew this man was a c*ut the moment I first heard him speak.

Not to protect the guy cause I don't really like him, but reading the rest of what he said, he's clearly talking to his executive team and the onus kind of is on them to manage and spend properly, as well as deliver on time. That's their job as executive staff.

Maybe someone should tell Frenchie here that it might be the fault of him and his executives, mainly his fault

Ubisoft used to make lots of good games 10 years ago. Now they release very few, but very bloated games. Go make good games. They don't even have to be great, just good. Don't make them 65 hours long.

oh, Ubisoft

Ubisoft needs to be sold either Sony or Microsoft buy them. I don’t care who buys them. Ubisoft being bought out is the best thing for them in my opinion

A workman always blams his tools. (in this case, the top dogs will always blame the lower dogs, for their mistakes)

Don't understand the outburst about this. Aren't it *always* the employees, those who actually do the work, who largely shape the fortune or misfortune of the company? The games are made by the developers, not the CEO of a company.

Easy solution, stop making games live service, F2P or based around micro transactions, it’s a scummy practice and it makes the games grindy and devoid of fun

Nothing to do with the companies leadership trying to push loads of F2P titles with shit monetisation that ultimately flop. No, it's all the regular staff who are to blame.

I have no sympathy for a company that refuses to make a Division 3

Fuck Yves Guillemot with a sandpaper dildo. What a massive piece of fucking shit.

Isn’t it their responsibility to make more money?

No it’s YOUR fault for not allowing your studios to innovate. Reusing the farcy and assassins creed formula over and over and over. Using those formulas in other games too. You’re the problem

It’s always the employees that get blamed but soon as profits hit they bosses gives themselves bonuses

How about Yves answers for all of the years Ubisoft covered up its sexual abuse scandals?

And people got excited when they said Redfall is the new Far Cry...

This corp will fall.

What in the heck is going on with ubisoft? They just are not putting out any games. Could it be that videogame companies are getting toobig?

Then you better let them be creative and not force them to make another open world checklist game unless they feel inspired to

R-tard

Maybe they should make their games not shit, maybe then people will buy them. Good lord companies these days are out of touch with reality. Make a good fking product! Not copy paste garbage like Assassins Creed and Far Cry has been the last what three entries at least.

Wow, how is it even in their power? Can they uncancel games?

Probably cos every ubisoft game is the same, open world, grinding, collectables and a cluttered map of

Utterly tone def

So in order words CRUNCH

Yves really said:

I agree with him. Not to put blame on the devs but since he has proven to be incompetent of making profits. The devs has now the power to listen to what the gamers wants in order to boost sales. Not to keep on holding to 'f2p, pay to win' BS...

That's not how Mafia works xD

Respectfully this guy needs to go. As a leader you always take responsibility first. Redirect the focus in a positive way if at all possible.

CEO of twats Ubisoft are doomed!

Thinking back to when I was interviewed for a UbiSoft job and didn't get it. My life could've been so much worse.

when everything is going well it's bonuses, back slapping and pay rises to those at the top, when it's not going so well it's everyone else.

Just for some contrast, I recently screwed up in work, and when I apologised I was told 'You're not taking the blame. We win and lose as a team.' If my boss sent me an email like that, I'd have job finder open in seconds.

Rise up and kick him out already

Years of mistakes catching up to them.

Knob

All I keep hearing from Ubisoft is Rainbow6 and division 2 dlc and updates. Maybe if they actually released something for people to buy 🤷‍♂️. I’m ready division 3, ghost Recon wildlands 2, splinter cell.

Maybe management should stop forcing staff to recycle the same shit over and over

Ubisoft's current situation is due to their delay issues, such as Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Beyond Good & Evil, and Skull and Bones, all of which will disappoint investors with their skipped games.

Hey Yves, how about you carve your own path in the industry instead of trend hopping. Might help.

'Hey guys? Yeh, we ran this whole thing into the ground by filling our single player games to the brim with microtransactions, not giving you enough time to polish and milking the same formula for 10 years straight. So, yeh, thats your problem now. Fix it or we're f*cked!'

Stop releasing 💩 games.

when you start to create a better working atmosphere and you slowly start concentrating on big brands (Far Cry Assassins Creed Splinter Cell Rainbow six Ghost Recon Watch Dogs) and deliver quality then it becomes something..... and not and everything turns into live service games

Maidenless

Wonder if their development teams will have greater creative freedoms as a result? Nah, probably not

Ubisoft tanked their reputation trying to milk as much money from their best franchises as possible. Not sure what that has to do with the devs.

The WHAT is on them?

CEO tenet 1: deflect blame until bankruptcy and then fade into the aether like you never existed

Starts at the top. He needs to hold himself accountable.

What a leader.

Maybe the nobhead should allow devs to make expressive games rather than the same ol shit the head execs demand.

Not the fault of the guy at the top who knowing protects sexual predators, no, it's always somebody else's fault.

A company is it’s people

they are doomed so

Dude’s company puts out the same buggy as fuck cookie-cutter copy and paste job games for the last ten years combined with a ton of misconduct and toxic working conditions but sure, it’s on the staff to do better. Le Bouffon.🤡

Yves Guillemot, who had spent decades covering for sexual abusers and harassers, wouldn't know a damn thing about responsibility.

Instead of making great games the suits chased the loot box rainbow. Now hes blaming the devs!? BS,its all his fault.

Translation: 'I will be keeping my ludicrously large salary, as will management and ya'll peasants about to be sacked'

What a shitty thing to lay on your employees after you’ve made all the bad decisions. Dude doesn’t know how to take accountability.

Just hit up one of the hundreds of outposts on the map to grind for coins

Maybe he should step down, this was all under his 'leadership'

When does he resign or get fired? Enough already!

Next Blizzard

Maybe if you didn't attempt to invest so heavily in NFTs or just be better at your job could help. Don't blame the devs T-W-A-T

Sell to Microsoft

What a way to lead from the front

Classy guy. Spend decades covering up the abuse of employees, then tell those same employees that they need to save the company. Great plan. Morale must be super high.

I hope those employees seek better companies with better leadership cus this ain’t it

LMAO french guy, you're the CEO, that's what you're paid for

Great CEO ladies and gentleman. 👏👏👏

Things will improve only once you retire, Yves!

Ubisoft will be for sell anytime soon and maybe it would be a good thing. They have often good ideas but the final product is rarely up to the hype.

Responsibility only exist with power. If you are powerless, you can't be made responsible.

Make mediocre bloated games that are all pretty much the same and pay the price. It’s the creative direction and leadership that is at fault. Shame for mario+ rabbids but it’s no secret people hate the damm rabbids. First only sold well cause it released close to switch launch

Maybe stop producing trash games with PS3 graphics and tanky movement?

Stop making games that try too hard to please as widest demographic as possible that ended up being too familiar and bland.

AndyPlaytonic The onus is on him. Full stop. First of all, to make the company a safer place, and second, to foster creativity and fun.

Throw the responsibility on his employees, what a great leader 😍😍

I just love it when CEOs throw their employees under the bus. Like lime in tea…
