"You can't do a startup today and hire a hundred engineers because you can't raise enough money," Lindzon said."No one wants to give you that money because it's expensive now." Besides widespread pessimism in markets, Lindzon said he's also encouraged that US equities haven't fallen further. Monetary policy from the Federal Reserve was the biggest driver of stocks for the last 10 years, he said, so if someone had told him a few years ago that the Fed would go from boosting stocks to trying to tear them down, he would have expected heavier losses.
