The Longhorn Ballroom is reopening this spring, according to a news release.Edwin CabanissUpon completion, the Longhorn Ballroom will fit over 2,000 guests and feature new museum-style display cases built into the walls.
The displays will feature photographs from the venue's early days and historical items, including guitars from artists Stevie Ray Vaughan, Waylon Jennings, Tammy Wynette and BB King. "The restoration and reopening of the iconic Longhorn Ballroom will serve as a catalyst to jump start the Rock Island area of the Cedars neighborhood," Cabaniss told the."We know that Dallas deserves and will support a locally owned, larger independent venue and one that prioritizes art and highly curated experiences."
The Longhorn Ballroom first opened in 1950 as the Bob Wills' Ranch House before changing its name in 1967. Over the years, many musical legends performed on its stage, including Tex Ritter, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Little Richard, Loretta Lynn, Selena and more.
