Bon Appetit lasted under two years at State Street Market in Los Altos.

The posh State Street Market food hall in downtown Los Altos will temporarily close for a few weeks and reopen with new staffing and the start of several new tenants on the way.

Robert Hindman, managing director of the food hall's developer and owner, Los Altos Community Investments, told me that several new food tenants are getting ready to join the food hall and that the closure in February and March will accommodate tenant improvements. State Street Market's current tenants include Banks & Braes, Murdoch's, Grains & Greens, Bao Bei — from Michelin-starred chefs Meichih and Michael Kim of Maum in Palo Alto — and ice cream chain Tin Pot Creamery. Another restaurant, Little Blue Door, is the project of Michelin-starred chef Srijith Gopinathan of Palo Alto's Indian destination spot Ettan and upcoming Copra restaurant in San Francisco.

State Street Market is also extending its hours and incorporating new food delivery options. Additionally the property is installing six DC Fast Chargers — with 11 electric vehicle hookups — from vendor Powerflex in the adjacent parking plaza., which began with designs by architect Gensler in May 2018 and delivered in September 2021, reimagined a 65-year-old retail and office building that had long seen minimal activation from the public.
