A total of 725 Nigerian players were involved in the winter and summer transfer windows in 2022 which accounted for the fifth highest global transfer in the world, Saturday PUNCH reports.

Midfielder, Joe Aribo also ditched Glasgow Rangers in the Scottish Premiership for Southampton and cost the Saints £10m plus add-ons while David Okereke completed a €10m move to Cremonese from Belgian giants, Club Brugge.

Meanwhile, Brazil accounted for the highest number of players transferred in 2022 with a total of 2,061 professionals making moves across the world.The deal for those players during that period summed up to $843.2m. Argentina are placed second on the log with 1,004 while France are third and they have the highest number of transfer moves in Europe with a total of 921 transfers valued at £591.5m.Colombia are sixth with 711 players moving during the transfer window and the transfer value placed at £203.6m. Spain had a total of 603 players during the 2022 transfer windows which cost £262.
