It follows queries from RTÉ’s This Week programme to industry body Insurance Ireland about whether its member companies would continue to cover drivers who are unable to obtain a valid NCT certificate due to long delays at testing centres.
In addition it advised current customers who had recently bought a car that did not have a valid NCT to"please contact us to see if we can offer you cover until you get the NCT." However, Insurance Ireland, of which the owners of 123.ie is a member, has stated that"cover [by it's members] will continue to be provided where customers, through no fault of their own, are unable to obtain their NCT due to backlogs at test centres."
It said:"In the event of a claim where a customer is awaiting an NCT, this delay will not be a factor in acceptance of their claim."
All insurance companies should be like this - NCT brought in to ensure cars are safe etc - everyone knows when NCT is due and should book in advance not on the day of renewal!
Its just another service in Ireland that doesnt work as it should. Why is everything failing & not fit for purpose.
I don't understand what is this fuss about. I put myself on the priority list in mid December. Got the appointment at the beginning of February. Still 3 mths before the due date, so I good for the next 15 mths. Don't blame others if you leave everything until the last minute.
Well into the NCT disaster and only now media has woken up to the reality of insurance. A booking only acceptable to Gardai not insurance
