A list of solutions, strategies and a timeline are what the Durban Chamber of Commerce & Industry' is hoping will come out of the State of the Nation Address.President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to deliver the address at 7pm on Thursday.

The chamber's Prasheen Maharaj says they want to hear about plans to rebuild the economy and stop load shedding. He says challenges like crime, corruption and issues at the ports continue to affect business operations and the local economy. "Load shedding is placing added pressure on business and the overall economy. For example blackouts because of Eskom unit breakdowns are resulting in a number of operational challenges across sectors nationally."Maharaj says the water and sanitation crisis, exacerbated by last year's floods, is ruining Durban's image.

"It has the potential to affect the tourism sector and its entire value chain negatively. The pace of infrastructure restoration and service recovery is slow and causing immeasurable damage to the ecosystem and particularly the tourism sector."
