The RMT union has rejected the latest offers from both Network Rail and the train operating companies to bring an end to a row over pay and working conditions.

It follows a "wide ranging and in-depth consultation" with union members, with the union saying offers do not meet members expectations on pay, job security or working conditions.

General secretary Mick Lynch said: "We have carried out an in-depth consultation of our 40,000 members and the message we have received loud and clear is to reject these dreadful offers."Our members cannot accept the ripping up of their terms and conditions or to have safety standards on the railway put into jeopardy under the guise of so-called modernisation.

Mr Lynch continued: "We have carried out an extensive listening exercise and our members have spoken. It is now time for the employers and the Government to listen to railway workers in their tens of thousands.

Why headline it as 'dreadful' pay offer and then put working conditions as an afterthought. Stop trying to push the agenda that it's just about pay. As all public services who are striking, it's about a fair deal, T&C's for employees and a safe service for the public.

They have no intention of settling the dispute anytime soon it’s all about helping Labour trash the Tories, the economy and ultimately their member’s livelihood

It's not about the monetary side of the offer. Its the t+c's the tories are trying to shoehorn through.

The RMT doesn't want a settlement, it wants the overthrow of capitalism. Or the current government at the very least.

the communists are trying to hold the country to ransom. the government needs to get the strikes minimum service legislation passed and impose a settlement too.
