Dallas-based M Crowd Restaurant Group announced Friday that the company is taking its Mi Cocina concept south to Houston, according to a news release.

The new outpost will become Mi Cocina's 24th location and is expected to employ between 80 and 100 people. Mi Cocina Houston is set to take the place previously occupied Seasons 52 location near River Oaks. It will also include an upscale bar with a speakeasy vibe and designs from Mexican artists, such as a custom painting from artist Luis Sottil, the release stated.

Mi Cocina was founded in Dallas 32 years ago. The restaurant, which currently has a 22 locations in Texas and Oklahoma and is set to open a 23rd in McKinney this spring, is known for a Tex-Mex menu with eats such as brisket tacos, fresh tacos and the well-known sangria-infused Mambo Taxi frozen margarita., president and CEO of parent company M Crowd, in a prepared statement.

“This new Houston location will offer us another opportunity to cater to a beloved neighborhood and our employees, while also serving the community, initiatives that are central to our core mission and our brand,” Guevara continued.
