Electric carmaker Tesla will face a hit on Super Bowl Sunday, when an ad will play showing the alleged dangers of its Full Self-Driving technology.

The commercial, which will be aired in Washington, DC, Austin, Tallahassee, Albany, Atlanta and Sacramento does not paint Tesla in the best light. The ad is part of a multimillion dollar advertising campaign by The Dawn Project. Its founder, Dan O’Dowd, is a California tech CEO who has dedicated millions of his own money to the cause. The ad cost $598,000, a Dawn Project spokesperson told CNN.

first investigated Tesla’s driver-assist technology after reports Autopilot-engaged vehicles were crashing into emergency vehicles stopped at the scene of earlier crashes. O’Dowd is the founder and CEO of Green Hills Software. Some of Musk’s defenders claim O’Dowd has a conflict of interest as one of its customers is Intel-owned Mobileye, which makes a computer chip to run driver-assisted software, the Washington Post reported.

Interesting

Tesla is always one year away from full self driving for the past 5 years. I doubt it will impact them much.

Wow, the replies read as though a lot of Elon cultists think CNN are responsible for the ad and Elon is personally involved in programming the tech... Now he is busy with Twitter, Tesla might put USS (sonar) back, and work on repair costs.

Bashing elonmusk is profitable

Just a GM Ford funded commercial to try and scare people away from Tesla. Notice how Tesla doesn’t have to advertise 🤷🏻‍♂️

not another fast and furious movie

Only fools believe that the car can drive by itself. I don’t even use the cruise control on my car. If I ever get a Tesla, (I won't) I'll trust it to let me know if there's anything in my blind spot or some other menial task but you can bet I'll be holding the wheel!

Tesla & elonmusk should sue for this fake smear campaign !

CNN does nothing but hit jobs every day. That's why you the drive by Media

Why? What possible benefit would there be to spend that money?

We're playing the long game baby!!!!!

Hahahahahahahahahahaha

Funny you don't talk about who's running the ad. Spoiler: it's a competitor with much MUCH more inferior tech

Do you expect anything different from a billionaire Musk hater? Tesla puts more emphasis on car safety than any other manufacture in the United States.

Must be a slow Trump day.

Elon is about to take the Crown again as the world richest man and it’s driving some people insane 🤣🤣 They’re trying to delay the inevitable.

Funny how Democrats want to bring down someone who helps save the climate just because he's not a Democrat.

Cnn used to kiss Elons feet before Twitter. It's hilarious! 😂🤣

If Musk owned CNN, it would be a major success. Now it's just a gutter network.

That's extremely petty in light of there's too many bad, manual drivers and ev cars dont need bad press. Obscene misuse of money like many of the other ads.

Mfw

Half a million dollars ad btw

I guess elonmusk lawyers are going to start suing that company that pull out that ad eh

Yeah Tesla’s bad because Elon Musk supports free speech and rejects woke culture so we had to cancel him. No room for other people’s opinions on politics/life because we’re the party of tolerance and acceptance. Everyone else is fascist, all men have the right to get pregnant.

Should we ban airplanes too because sometimes they crash? The reality is that all leaps forward in productivity will have some accidents but the gain for society will be large when it’s mainstream.

I dont watch the National Felon League.

Now the pieces are falling into place.

Like Sara said, if there going after you your probably doing something right!

cameron_kasky

Probably paid for by the US administration

Not a fan of Teslas, either way we are going to have a plan. World Oil Reserves: The world has proven reserves equivalent to 46.6 times its annual consumption levels. This means it has about 47 years of oil left.
