Tens of thousands in South Australian taxpayers’ money have funded a US trip for the SA Treasurer and other government officials.

The Opposition government is asking questions after an estimated $78,000 was spent on a US adventure spanning from the 19th to the 27th of January.

Department for Treasury and Finance CEO Rick Persse, State Treasurer Stephen Mullighan and a senior ministerial advisor travelled to Los Angeles, New York and Washington. Mr Mullighan defended the spending saying, “the state government has to raise billions of dollars’ worth of funding for the day-to-day operations of government and to re-finance debt which is coming due”.

Obviously the the problem of arrogance ignorance runs deep in the labour party but what do U expect with their unions full 1% motorcycles club members RUDD at Brisbane whafe hasn't see you down lately RUDD ? my list grows they think their above us not work for us PeterDutton_MP

This sort of spending by governments has to stop. We have so many issues in Australia that need cash.

$78k for an entourage's 8-day business trip to the US seems excessively cheap. Only twice the price of Stuart Robert's internet bill, well done Labor👏

Get the money from your union superannuation funds or do you fkwts deal with corrupt money dealers

Maybe cutting back on oversea's trips might help for a start. Who in the US is going to fund the SA goverment. Is that not a conflict of interests? If it was China there would be shouts of 'interference' Need to be transparent & publish their funding wins. Sounds suspicious!

Billions given to NewsCorpse mates like Gerry Harvey - nothing to see there......

So let's talk about it, where was Sky on Liberal MPs when raised? Nowhere. Little wonder no-one rates Sky News and ratings suck. Peppa Pig gets better ratings. Mote Australians care when Garn is coming out with his next YouTube video

Sounds like a Whitlamesque style deal. Remember Khemlani Affair & his cut was $100 million! Apple not falling far from the Labor corrupt tree initiated by Whitlam?

Ha ha . Only a labor government would run up debt to travel to the states to refinance debt. Not hard to see why there is a problem

Now you know what it’s like being an American.
