What do Bill Belichick, Pete Carroll and Andy Reid have in common? The answer is a hiring lesson for businesses.

The Super Bowl is upon us, and while Kansas City and Philadelphia prepare to battle it out in Arizona, football’s annual coaching carousel is making its final turns as desperate franchises look for new leaders to escape the doldrums.

Reid, head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, is coaching in the Super Bowl this year against his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, who fired him after the 2012 season despite him being the winningest coach in Eagles' history. Terminations are never easy, but the NFL coaching carousel offers several examples of how these difficult situations can ultimately work out for the best for all parties.

As an Alabama fan still smarting from two title game losses to Clemson, I certainly wish Clemson would have hired an existing coordinator rather than Dabo Swinney, a wide receivers coach with no coordinator experience. They didn’t, and they've reaped the rewards.
