A plan to stop sewage discharges was announced by ministers last August, but it was heavily criticised by campaigners for setting a deadline of 2050 to end overflows.

Very cool. This case – that seeks to establish the existence of a 'public trust doctrine' that the natural environment has to be protected for future generations – has just been given permission by the High Court.
