The global oil and gas industry's profits in 2022 jumped to some US$4 trillion from an average of $1.5 trillion in recent years, the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol, said on Tuesday.

Canadians now believe they need $1.7 million in savings in order to retire, a 20 per cent increase from 2020, according to a new BMO survey. The eye-watering figure is the largest sum since BMO first started surveying Canadians about their retirement expectations 13 years ago.

With the spring break travel season approaching, those looking to flee the cold, wet Canadian snow for sunnier skies will likely be met with a hefty price tag for their getaway, with inflation and increased demand pushing costs up.When selling a home, Canadians may be exempted from paying capital gains tax on a residential property -- if it's their principal residence. If you think a non-fossil fuel future is so great, then create a better 'Green' economy, and if it's so great then people will voluntarily switch to it. But don't force people to switch to a worse-off , higher priced, unreliable 'Green' economy.

One third of the price of gas is taxes. The carbon tax also adds to the price of fuel, for cars, heating etc.

Here in Canada where the sector pays royalties and taxes including the carbon tax and all of the rest of us pay even more tax at the pump also along the carbon tax and soon to come clean fuel standard tax this sector contributed billions to gov coffers.
