If I go on Glassdoor and leave a scathing review, will it hurt my chances of a future employer hiring me?

I received my layoff notice via email. It wasn’t even from my boss, just a no-reply automated message. If I go on Glassdoor.com and leave a scathing review, will it hurt my chances of a future employer hiring me?

Thank you for your inquiry. Wait times for Go To Greg submissions are higher than normal due to increased volume. Please try your question again later. Oh my. Definitely not making light of you being laid off, just amplifying the inhuman experience and just how awful that is. I’m all for giving feedback, both positive and negative. There isn’t any advantage to you revealing your name however, so a prospective employer won’t know it was from you.

You should have done what everyone else does — wait until you received your bonus before quitting. Or, some employees who resign before they receive their bonus negotiate the amount they are walking away from as a sign-on bonus with their new employer. The practice is legal generally with most types of discretionary bonus plans, where the employer is not obligated to pay anything. At this point, all you can do is confirm that what your employer is telling you is written into a stated policy.

What if they plan to call you in a few months? Stop the bitterness and move on...

We’re you working from home?

AT MY JOB, EVERYDAY I CLOCK IN, I THINK I’M GONNA GET FIRED. THE ENVIRONMENT IS THAT TOXIC…… NOT HEALTHY…..

Duh. Stupid question

Stop WHINING! Your employer is usually not your friend or family member. You got laid off. Forget that company and move on to the next .

Tempting, but burn bridges.

I mean….yeah, but a jaded ex employee bad review is kinda lame

Yeah. That will help Dipsht.

Of course, but wait until you’ve got a new gig… and then only if you’re certain everyone at the company is worthy of your revenge. If there is just one good person there just let it go. Forgive. Move on…

Just another reason quiet quitting is a thing

You can do whatever the eff you want, is an 8 year old asking this question?

I dunno -- can they give YOU a bad review online?

Hey. Begin telling your readers that in America, unless you have a working contract, the employment is AT WILL. Employees can quit, which it may hurt employers a bit. They spent time, money training the worker, hoping to last a long time with them. But business models work or not

Free country

Personally I’d go to town

Not if you want to keep your future options open.

If you got laid off by a bad company what does that say about you?

Burn the bridge, let the fire light the way forward.
