'As a third generation fashion designer and manufacturer, I feel that the process and skill of the work that is done in producing clothing should be honoured and supported'

Talented designer Anneleise Duffy has spoken about the impact fast fashion is having on the fashion industry in Ireland.

“They said they were watching my Instagram posts, liked my creativity and wanted to collaborate with me.”She said: “I personally feel if you have an opinion, you need to stand by that opinion - nail it to the mast and stand behind it. “My grandparents and parents never outsourced our manufacturing abroad because they believe that made in Ireland is the best.

Education and choice is key according to the designer - once consumers can make an informed decision, and have the option to support Irish design, the industry can move forward. “I just don’t feel comfortable with [fast fashion] because I’m surrounded by an industry that I love from the bottom of my heart and I’m so proud of stitching made in Ireland labels on my garments, knowing that we make them here.
