Business and cyber security professionals have reacted to Labor's creation of a 'Coordinator of Cyber Security'.

The Albanese government announced the creation of the position, which will be supported by a new National Office for Cyber Security, at their Cyber Security Roundtable in Sydney.

Mr McKeller said the issue of cyber threats affected businesses of all sizes, but evidence showed that only one in five small businesses were confident about their own cyber security. “So there is a lot that needs to be done here to really make sure that we are getting up to speed that we’re minimizing that risk.”

“Even topics like insurance, making sure we’ve got affordable, effective insurance coverage so if you are affected you’ve got the ability to respond quickly, to be supported and get your business back up and running. All of these things are absolutely fundamental,” Mr McKeller said.
