Cricket South Africa has announced the limited overs squads that will play against the West Indies later this month.

Aiden Markram, who guided the Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the inaugural SA 20 title last month, has been appointed the new captain of the T20 team, but the newly-appointed Test skipper, Themba Bavuma, was left out of the T20 squad all together.

Proteas limited-overs coach, Rob Walter says, “Look, Aiden has obviously shown himself to be a leader over a period of time. His most recent leadership success with the Sunrisers stands out. So, it’s just the natural progression that that he leads the leadership of the national side. He has been there before, but he has matured as a leader since then and he has had a leadership role on the team, so it’s a logical progression.
