North West Star bus workers demand answers after the company failed to pay their provident fund to Old Mutual for 10 months.Employees of the North West Star bus service, a subsidiary of the embattled state-owned North West Transport Investment , are accusing business rescue practitioner Thomas Samson of syphoning money out of the company for his personal gain, resulting in the entity being unable to pay salaries for two months.
They also revealed that Samson was ordered by the Standing Committee on Public Accounts to explain the trajectory of the company. The source also said that Samson failed to pitch a turnaround strategy even when he was ordered by North West Transport MEC Sello Lehari.Until now, he's been the problem to the company and workers are suffering. He befriended the drivers and some workers who were supposed to go for a disciplinary hearing to support him, as he promised that they wouldn’t go for a disciplinary hearing during this tenure.
