Or, and hear me out here.... we could do this by implementing some sort of mandatory payment system on corporations and the wealthy, in which they owe a share of their income to the government out of social obligation, and then use that much larger investment to pay for housing

Making money available to buy houses will not drive prices down.

Housing is expensive because people who don’t live and work in the market are buying property. Period

Here’s an idea MSFT and all the other tech biggies. Move. Spread out. Decentralize. Your HQs crowd urban centers like Seattle and SF relying on public support for infrastructure and transit. Move to Spokane, Eugene, Sacramento, where homes are affordable and workers can thrive.

If you look at it closely - beyond the headlines - Microsoft’s $500M housing investment is actually a $25M grant plus $275M in loans. They will profit from this via interest payments, even recouping the cost of the realatiey small grant.

BradSmi Hey Brad, that’s all fine and good but when I was living in Redmond, Microsoft took over apartments in my building and our rent skyrocketed at lease renewal due to it. Do you realize 27 families left one complex because of you guys?

There's enough money there for everyone to have a home. We can use 3D Printers to build these houses for cheap. There really is no excuse.
