Investors should target high-quality companies that have both growth and stability.For over 22 years, Kimberly Scott has run the Delaware Ivy Mid Cap Growth Fund . Unlike the size of the companies she invests in, her performance in that span has been anything but middle of the road.over the past 15 years and ranks in the top 12% of its category so far this year, according to Morningstar.
While mid-caps can fall into that so-called"sweet spot" between stable, slow-growing large-caps and fast-rising but riskier small-caps, the group also has its fair share of losers. "For us, quality means that if you use debt, fine — use it judiciously," Scott said."Don't get in trouble because you have debt, or you have the wrong kind of debt."
