Houston metro area among the nation's top destinations for new corporate projects, report says

Pet Supplies Plus is expanding in the Houston market. The pet supplies retailer announced expansions in Harris County and Fort Bend County in July, according to the Greater Houston Partnership's 2022 list of New Business Announcements and Expansions.When it comes to landing corporate developments, Houston is among the top destinations in the country.255 projects in 2022, placing just behind the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington area, with 426 projects.

The ranking was compiled by a team of four researchers based on announcements and information from local and state economic development agencies, among other sources, Site Selection Editor-in-Chief Mark Arend said. The researchers track private sector announcements that involve at least $1 million, 20 or more jobs and/or 20,000 square-feet of construction. Researchers may not document whether a project is pulled or postponed after the initial announcement.

Craig Rhodes, vice president of regional economic development at the Greater Houston Partnership, said the Site Selection report confirms Houston is on a strong path.
