PETALING JAYA: PETRONAS' sole employee, other Malaysians as well as residents in the PETRONAS Sudan Complex in Khartoum are all safe and accounted for, confirmed the company.

"Other PETRONAS Group employees are also safe in their respective homes or outside of the country," it said in a brief statement on Sunday .

Numerous airlines have suspended flights to Khartoum and neighbouring Chad has closed its border with Sudan.The United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union, China and Russia have all called for an immediate end to the fighting. "PETRONAS is closely monitoring the situation and is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure the safety of all personnel, which remains our utmost priority," it said.
