Thieves drove a stolen truck through the front door of Sooke Power Supply early last Friday and stole about $40,000 worth of equipment.“They got seven generators, I believe nine chainsaws and some gas-powered axes,” he said.He said he was told the truck had been stolen from the Shawnigan area.
The business was closed on the day of the incident for inventory, but has been operating as normal ever since, he said. Sooke RCMP Sgt. Kevin Shaw, the acting detachment commander, said such “brazen” crimes are quite rare. Shaw said about two and a half years ago, a vehicle driven into the store area of the local Petro-Canada station in an attempt to steal a bank machine.Anyone with information on last Friday’s incident is asked to call Sooke RCMP at 250-642-5241.
