Social media companies will be fined millions of dollars if they allow the spread of disinformation and misinformation on their platforms in a new crackdown by the Federal Government.

Communications Minister Michelle Rowland will draft legislation allowing the Australian Communications and Media

Authority to impose industry-wide standards enforcing social media platforms to remove potentially harmful content.
