7NEWS: Iconic South Australian bakery Balfours sold to interstate company after 170 years

Iconic South Australian bakery Balfours, home of the iconic frog cake, will change hands within weeks after being sold to a West Australian rival.

Aus Pie Co CEO Bruce Feodoroff told 7NEWS under his leadership he hopes to expand Balfours nationally, and abroad. “We’ll look to take the Balfours brand into New Zealand as well. It’s part of our broader strategy to utilise the strength of Mrs Mac’s.”7NEWS Scottish immigrants James Calder and his wife Margaret née Balfour started Balfours in 1853 when they established the first bakery on Rundle St in Adelaide.
