Social media users were quick to criticise Monique Ryan amid the cost of living crisis, after it was revealed she billed taxpayers for 27 business class flights in one year.

Documents released under freedom of information show Ms Ryan billed taxpayers to the tune of $28,000 for the flights between Melbourne and Canberra, which takes about an hour.

The Australian National University’s Andrew Hughes, an expert in political marketing, questioned Ms Ryan over the excessive flights.“Even if you’re reading a sensitive document, why are you reading a sensitive document on a plane where everyone else can see it.

Monique Ryan who has campaigned for climate change and cutting emissions has been caught flying in business class 27 times in one year at the expense of taxpayers.“I cannot deal with people defending a wealthy politician charging taxpayers for 27 business class flights, mostly one hour,” one user said. The same user then doubled down at criticism aimed at him.
