The Scots philanthropist - who is worth an estimated £700 million - has called for a 15 per cent corporation tax rate for three key economic sectors in order to boost growth.

Sir Tom Hunter has called on Scotland to follow the example of Ireland when it comes to winning global investment in its economy.

He called economic growth in Scotland over the last decade as "rather anaemic" compared to that of Ireland. "So how does Scotland compete on global investment opportunities when faced with that challenge? If Scotland were a business it would be a small business and that’s to our advantage - we can focus, be agile and compete."
