Large sections of Crown land held for project development

JOHN'S, N.L. — Companies hoping to build wind farms in Newfoundland moved another step ahead in that process on Wednesday, Aug. 30.

The four successful companies are EverWind NL Company; Exploits Valley Renewable Energy Corp.; Toqlukuti’k Wind and Hydrogen Ltd. ; and World Energy GH2 Inc. “I am pretty confident that this is going to blossom into something that is of huge importance to this province, and one of the reasons is this is not an industry right now that is asking for subsidization by the province in order to make them viable,” said Parsons.

The best known proponent is World Energy GH2 Inc., which is proposing a three-phase wind-energy project on the province’s west coast, and a hydrogen/ammonia production facility in Stephenville to produce and export green hydrogen/ammonia.
