Delta State hired a non-musician with a problematic past as interim chair of the music department, and left it, by many accounts, traumatized..

by Molly Minta, Mississippi Today September 6, 2023 CLEVELAND — It was the fourth day of classes at Delta State University last fall when the dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Ellen Green, asked the music department to not hate her forever.  The 12 faculty members had just experienced one of the most tragic things to ever happen at the tiny college in the Mississippi Delta. Their department chair, Karen Fosheim, had been beaten to death in her home.
