Of the FTSE 100 constituents, building materials/products company Melrose Industries PLC MRO, +5.54% saw the largest increase Thursday, as shares rallied 5.54%.

RELX PLC REL, +2.20%, a publishing company, and specialty retail firm D C C P L C DCC, +2.17% rounded out the top five largest increases as their stocks rallied 2.20% and 2.17%, respectively. Shares of clothing retail firm JD Sports Fashion PLC JD, -3.63% and general mining company Anglo American PLC AAL, -2.90% dropped 3.63% and 2.90%, respectively.

The pound was down 0.19% against dollar GBPUSD, -0.20% at $1.2483 and was up 0.03% against the euro GBPEUR, at €1.1664.
