KUALA LUMPUR: Graft busters have arrested a former political secretary to a minister and another person in their probe into alleged kickbacks from a multimillion-ringgit project.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission sources said that the duo were arrested after having their statements taken on Friday night at the Commission's headquarters in Putrajaya.The source said that the first suspect was a political secretary to a former senior minister, aged in his twenties

The other is an owner of a company in his fifties, who is believed to have collaborated with the minister in asking for and receiving bribes via his company as a result of having a book printing project approved via direct negotiations.MACC deputy chief commissioner Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya confirmed the arrest when contacted. “The case is being investigated under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009,” he said.
